Frank Smith, 82, of Evarts, passed away Friday, March 1, 2013, at the Harlan Health and Rehab Center following a long illness. Born November 19, 1930 in Harlan County, he was a retired coal miner and believed in the Pentecostal faith.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Betty House Smith; his parents, Roy Smith and Celia Thompson Smith; a sister, Linda Gail Smith; and two brothers, Roy Ed Smith and Bill Smith.

Survivors include five children, Sharon Pace and husband, Mark, Dizney; Lawrence Smith, Evarts; Darrell Smith and wife, Belinda; Jackie Smith and wife, Angela; and Randy Smith, all of Tennessee; a step-son, Louis Chorak, Harlan; three sisters, Lana Risner and husband, Dewey, Verda; Joyce Amburgey, Verda; Thelma Cochran, Evarts; and three brothers, Roger Smith and wife, Debbie, Evarts; Harold Smith, Somerset; and Johnny Smith, Evarts. Also surviving are a host of grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; and other family and friends including three special friends, Debbie Curry, John Curry and Brandy Brock.

Visitation will be held after 3 pm Sunday at the Bailey’s Creek Holiness Church.

Funeral services will conducted Monday, March 4, 2013, at 1 pm at the Church with the Reverend James Middleton and Reverend George Pace officiating.

Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
