Samuel E. (Ed) Scott, age 77, of Dione, KY went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 05, 2013, at the Tri Cities Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Cumberland, KY. He was born in Nolansburg, KY on June 12, 1935 to the late Leroy and Rhoda Cole Scott. Ed was a 40 year coal miner, having worked at Benham International Harvester, US Steel and Arch of Kentucky. He was a deacon of the Totz Baptist Church, past Master of the Fields Lodge #832, member of the Lexington Consistory and Oleika Shrine Temple.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Lois Scott; daughters, Tana Sue Williams and Bessie Lou Parker; and sisters, Evelyn Allen and Edna Mae Allen.

Ed is survived by his sons, Bill (Jill) Scott and John Scott of Cumberland; a daughter, Melba Yates of Tennessee; brothers, James Scott and Leroy Scott of Nolansburg; grandchildren, Andrea Nicole Hudson, John Scott, Otelia Cornett, Matthew Stacey, Reda Williams, Tammy Williams, Marla Kay Williams, William Lee Scott II, Dillon Lee Scott and Lily Nicole Scott; great grandchildren, Brayden Hudson and Camden Hudson; a special niece and nephew, Melony and Clark Morris; and a host of church family and friends.

The family will receive friends in the chapel of the Tri City Funeral Home in Benham, KY on Thursday, February 7, 2013, from 6 – 9 pm with Masonic Rites at 7 pm. Funeral services will be held in the chapel on Friday, February 8, 2013, at 1 pm with the Reverend Homer Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Peaceful Acres Cemetery at Hiram, KY. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
