Mike Douglas Lunsford, 43, of Evarts went home to be with the Lord Friday, December 7, 2012, at the Harlan App. Reg. Hospital following a long illness. He was born June 18, 1969 in Harlan County and had lived here most of his life. Mike was a graduate of Evarts High School and had worked as a Registered Nurse at the U.T. Medical Center before his illness. He believed in the Church of God faith.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Della Coots; and his paternal grandparents, Willie and Minnie Lunsford.

Survivors include his mother and step-father, Maxine Coots Lunsford and Robert Vaughn, Evarts; his father and step-mother, Doug Lunsford and Vickie Lunsford, Closplint; a sister, Kim Simpson and husband, Charlie, Somerset; a step-brother, Walter Thompson, Closplint; his maternal grandfather, Estil Coots, Lejunior; two nephews, Jon Lunsford, Lexington; Jordan Penley, London; and a host of other family and friends, including his best friend, Candie Miller, Evarts.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 pm Sunday at the Evarts Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, December 10, 2012, at 1 PM in the Chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home with the Reverend Janice Fulkerson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
