Elsie Childers of Cranks Creek, KY was born Tuesday, April 17, 1924 in Rose Hill, VA and passed away Thursday, October 25, 2012 at the Life Care Center in Elizabethton, TN at the age of 88 years.

Elsie was a homemaker and enjoyed quilt making and crocheting. She was preceded in death by her husband George Childers, parents Joseph and Mornie Hensley, grandchild Charles Jones, Jr., brothers Arter Hensley, Ike Hensley, Enos Hensley, Spart Tinsley, Robert Hensley, Junior Hensley, Eli Hensley, Monty Hensley and George Stewart, sisters Charity Fowler, Linda Nicoles, Mary Chlapecka, Ada Swain and Margaret Short.

Elsie is survived by three sons Don Short and wife, Brenda of LaGrange, KY, James Short and wife, Virginia of Oak Park, IL and Ron Short and wife, Ann of Cranks, KY, two daughters Bobbie Fritts and husband, Kenneth of Elizabethton, TN and Margaret Bowman and husband, Dennis of Kingsport, TN and twelve grandchildren, twenty three great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the Province Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, VA with Rev. Gary Grubbs and Rev. Jim Ewing officiating. The graveside service will follow at 11:30 AM Saturday at the Pennington Memorial Cemetery in Pennington Gap, VA.
