Stella Mae Reed, age 90, of Payne Gap, Kentucky, returned to her heavenly father on Thursday, July 5, 2012, following a long illness.

She was born on May 9, 1922, unto the union of the late Johnny and Vina Whitaker. She was a member of the Payne Gap Freewill Baptist Church and worked as a Dietician for Elkhart General Hospital and the Jenkins Community Hospital before retiring. Waiting to welcome her home, husband Dewey Reed, son Arthur Reed, granddaughter Karen Diane Lacey. She is survived by two sons, Paul (Joann) Reed of Manchester, Tennessee & Jimmy (Emma) Reed of Elkhart, Indiana, daughter Betty Carol Vanover of Brandenburg, Kentucky, brothers, Jack, Arcie, & Russell Whitaker all of Payne Gap, KY, Christopher Whitaker of Maryland, Columbus Whitaker of Ohio, sisters, Caroline Mullins of Shelbyville, KY and Wanda Jean Wright of Michigan and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July 7, 2012, at the Johnson Funeral Home beginning at 10 a.m.

Funeral Services will begin at 1 p.m.

Burial will follow in the Laurel Fork Cemetery at Payne Gap, KY.
