She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Sarah Strunk Maggard; her loving husband of 66 years, Rev. James V. Gross; three children, Edna Faye, Jimmy and Alonzo Gross; a brother, Charles Curtis; a sister, Patsy Maggard; a daughter-in-law, Joan Gross; a sister-in-law, Ethel Maggard; a grandson, Bill Gross; and four great-grandchildren, James Stevens, Jr., Jennifer Stevens, Jace and Gabriel Gross.
Maxine is survived by her step-mother, Mae Maggard; three brothers, Sam Maggard, Jimmy Maggard and Bill Maggard; five sisters, Rose Ann Maggard, Irene Cheek, Charlene Brown, Mary Little and Linda Little; two daughters, Betty Stevens and husband Elmer, of Hartford, KY; Debra Smith and husband Rev. Don Smith, of Grays Knob; five sons, Charles Gross and wife Ora Jean, of Cawood; Bill Gross and wife Darlene, of Beaver Dam; Frank Gross and wife Sandy, of Mary Alice; Rev. Edmond Gross and wife Robin, of Wallins; and Mike Gross and wife Georgetta, of Loyall.
Also surviving are 25 grandchildren as well as a host of great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be after 6 pm Saturday, March 16, at the Four Mile Missionary Baptist Church at Keith.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Sunday, March 17, at the church with the Reverend George Fredrick officiating.
Burial will follow at the New Creech Cemetery at Wallins. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
