Roy L. Burnett, 77 of Tazewell, TN formerly of Harlan passed Tuesday March 12, 2013 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

Roy was born December 12, 1935 at Golden Ash, KY to the late Arnold Burnett & Alta Hatmaker Burnett Whitaker. He was the retired production manager for New Horizons Coal Co. for Harlan and Bell Counties with over 32 years of service. His only hobby was his love of fishing and he believed in the Church of God faith.

Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Burnett and his brother, Melvin Eugene Burnett.

He is survived by 3 loving children, Geauna Juel (Roger) Lewis, Wayne (Willa) Burnett, and Debbie L. (Colonel) Messer all of Tazewell, TN; 2 grandchildren, Angela Lewis and Dale (Kaveana) Lewis; 3 great grandchildren, Shawn Hensley, Jordan Lewis, and Sara Lewis; 1 half-brother, Jimmy Whitaker of Harlan; a special friend, Don Hudson.

Visitation will be Friday from 5 until 7:00 pm at the Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm in the chapel of Anderson-Laws & Jones with the Rev. Kermit Creech and Rev. Winfred Causey officiating.

Graveside services will be 12:00 pm Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the Resthaven Cemetery Chapel.
