She was born on November 14, 1935, unto the union of the late Otis & Sarah Jane Osborne Halcomb in Letcher County, KY. She was a retired certified nurses assistant for over 30 years and a dedicated member of the Cumberland Church of God, where she was a member of the ladies auxiliary.
She is preceded in death by her husband Rueben & brothers, Paul David and Dallas Halcomb & sister, Helen Galloway.
She leaves to mourn her passing, three sons, James (Sherry) Elkins of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, John (Debra) Elkins of Cooleemee, North Carolina, Jerry (Wanda) Elkins, Big Stone Gap, Virginia, three daughters, Glendia Elkins of Partridge, Kentucky, Saundra (Brian) DeFrance of Hilham, Tennessee, Dixie (Bob) Graves of Bristow, Indiana, a brother, Bill Halcomb, JR of Georgia, three sisters, Evelyn Shepherd of Slemp, KY, Barbara Bilbrey of Tennessee and Una Stamper of Arizona, fourteen grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren also survive.
Visitation will be conducted on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, in the Chapel of the Cumberland Valley Funeral Home from 12 noon to 2 p.m. with funeral services immediately following with Rev. Ronnie Doyle officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Maggard Family Cemetery at Partridge, Kentucky with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
