Doris Hensley Hougland, 73, of the Laurels passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013, at the Hazard App. Reg. Hospital. Born August 3, 1939 in Dizney, KY, she was a retired school bus driver for the Harlan County Schools. She was also a member of the Eastern Star for over 25 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dennis Cornett and Sudie Mae Jones Cornett; one son, Harley Hensley; and several brothers.

Doris is survived by her husband, Jim Hougland, New Tazewell, TN; two sons, Merle Hensley, Tazewell, TN and Larry Thomas, Harlan; three brothers, Jessie Cornett and wife Ann, Wallins; Sam Cornett, Detroit, MI; and Roy Cornett, Austin, IN; four sisters, Callie Bruce, Memphis, IN; Wanda Mae Pace, Memphis, IN; Freddie Thomas, Austin, IN; and Mandy Cornett, Somerset, KY.

Also surviving are several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1-3 P.M. Friday with a memorial service at 3 P.M. at the Bud Simpson Church in Wallins with Reverend Billy Taylor and Reverend Scott Bowman officiating.
