What is 4-H Summit?

Started in 2005, the Kentucky 4-H Summit is held annually at the Kentucky 4-H Leadership Center in Jabez for youth who are currently enrolled in sixth, seventh and eighth grades. This program is designed to develop leadership, citizenship and communications skills. This program is also designed to inspire middle school aged 4-H youth to remain active in the 4-H program and to acquaint them with the programs and activities available to them as senior 4-H members. Planned and designed to satisfy a wide range of interests. Delegates choose from several interest areas including leadership, communications and citizenship. Objectives are accomplished through hands on active workshops, guest speakers, seminars, group living, recreation and recognition.

What do we do at 4-H Summit?

There is a lot to do at 4-H Summit! All of the participants at 4-H Summit get a chance to take a leadership development workshop taught by our State 4-H Teen Council members. You will also get a chance to take three other workshops and two fun shops (sign up is on the first day at 4-H Summit). You will also get a chance to enjoy time with your friends, play sports, take part in dancing, movies or games and hear our dynamic guest speaker!

Where/When is 4-H Summit Held?

Delegates at 4-H Summit stay at the Lake Cumberland 4-H Center which is a lodge like setting on beautiful Lake Cumberland. Delegates stay in lodge style rooms with 3-4 beds and private bathrooms. All meals on-site are provided in the cost of the registration fee. Harlan County will be attending 4-H Summit during Session 3 on April 4, 5, and 6, 2013. 4-H Club Leaders, Adult Volunteers and the 4-H agent will serve as chaperons. It is important to sign up quickly as Harlan County has a limited amount of campers who may attend. Adult staff and volunteers will be present in the ration of 1 adult per 10 Youth.
