Former Black Mountain standout Raygon Hendrix recently signed to play collegiate basketball at the United States Air Force Academy.
“I haven’t always wanted to go to a military school, but I started considering it the past year. When I visited in October I fell in love with the campus, the coaches and the team,” Hendrix said. “This is a great opportunity. They like to push the floor and that is what I’m good at. Plus, when I graduate I will have one of the best educations in the country.”
Hendix moved to South Carolina following middle school where her father, Tommy Hendrix, was relocated within the Air Force.
During her high school career, Hendrix has helped to lead the Pinewood Prep girls basketball team to South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA) state title in 2011 and 2012. Hendrix was named to the SCISA All-Region and All-Star teamm in 2011 and 2012, and was selected to the all-state team in 2011. She has also been named the SCISA co-Player of the Year.
