An Evarts man faces charges after an alleged assault and hostage complaint.

Robert Williams, 68, was arrested by Evarts Police Officer William Clogston III Sunday on charges of first-degree wanton endangerment, menacing, third-degree terroristic threatening and fourth-degree assault with no visible injury.

According to Clogston, he received a complaint that Williams was holding his wife hostage at gunpoint.

“Upon… arrival to the scene Chief Blas (Evarts Police Chief Lupe Blas) and Sheriff Marvin Lipford made contact with Williams,” said Clogston. “Williams then stepped out the back door unarmed and turned himself in.”

Clogston noted that Williams stated that he and his wife had been in an an argument.
