Kentucky State Police Trooper Jason Joseph is investigating the death of a 9-month-old child at Cumberland.

Post 10 reported that they received a 911 call Friday night that the child was not breathing. Emergency Medical Dispatch was initiated by a telecommunicator. Emergency Medical Services and troopers were dispatched to the scene. CPR was administered to the child but was unsuccessful. The child was pronounced dead by Harlan County Deputy Coroner Jim Rich.

Police said the body will be sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

The death remains under investigation by Joseph. He was assisted by LifeCare Ambulance Service and Trooper Josh Howard.
