The Harlan County Extension Service and Kentucky Storytellers Association hosted “Storytelling in the Mountains” event on Saturday at the Harlan Depot. Cumberland resident Noah Hughes, a 2012 National Youth Storytelling Showcase Torchbearer and Kentucky State Torchbearer spun stories that kept everyone in laughter. Hughes has won numerous awards both locally and statewide and has been featured in several Higher Ground theatrical productions at Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College. Guests attending the event enjoyed an evening of storytelling from Carlton Hughes, Mary Hamilton, Jeremy Williams, David Benning, Pam Holcomb, Maryann Zoll, Buck Creacy, Betsy Fleischer, Russ Conrad, Theresa Osborne and Bill Watson and everyone was treated to ice cream.
