A native of Harlan County, Cole was a retired welder from Lee Steel. He believed in the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles M. Cole and Ruth Brooks Cole; four brothers and sisters: Frank Cole, Raymond Cole, Shirlene Cole and Billie Sue Sanders.
Survivors include his son, Allen Cole and wife, Jennifer, Williamsburg; two grandchildren: Gabriel Cole, Williamsburg; and Taylor Carpenter, Denver, Colo.; a companion, Trichina “KI” Townsend, Pathfork; eight brothers and sisters: Dennis Cole, Morganton, N.C.; Danny Cole and wife, Joyce, Wallins; Nick Wright and wife, Tammie, Elcomb; Florence Ross and husband, Don, Fayetteville, N.C.; Sondra Davis and husband, Larry, Lancaster; Brenda Wilder and husband, Eddie, Keokee, Va.; Emmy Hickey, Casey County; and Mary Hampton and husband, Jack, Harlan; his stepmother, Francis Haley, Elcomb; and a host of other family members and friends.
Visitation will be held today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted today at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Josh Hensley officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Friday at noon at the Cole Family Cemetery in Elcomb.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
