A native of Hazard, she resided in Harlan for more than 50 years.
She attended the University of Kentucky and was an accountant for more than 20 years for the state. A Kentucky Colonel, she was a member of the Harlan United Methodist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution and Harlan Homemakers.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Dr. John D. Fitzpatrick and Eunice Baker Fitzpatrick, Whitesburg; husband, Charles R. “Dick” Russell; Thomas Y. Fitzpatrick, John D. Fitzpatrick and James Fitzpatrick.
She is survived by a daughter, Pam, and husband, Larry Mize, Harlan; a sister, Josephine Shepherd, Hazard; two grandchildren: Londa J., and husband, Jeff Roark, Hazard; and Heather, and husband, Bobby Burkhart, Harlan; great-grandchildren, Jessica Lynn Mason, Katelyn Burkhart, Rebekah Roark and Andrew Roark.
Visitation will be today at 11 a.m., with funeral services following at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Rich Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Douglas and the Rev. Barry Leonard will officiate.
Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
