David Ray Moore, 56, Holmes Mill, died Sept. 24, 2005, at his home following a long illness.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in Vietnam. He was a retired coal miner from Karst-Robbins Coal Company and believed in the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lula Mae Webb Moore and Leslie Moore; and two brothers, Doyle Moore and Larry Moore.

Survivors include his wife, Vickie Charlene Blevins Moore, Holmes Mill; four children: Christaine G. Turner and husband, Kevin, Wallins; David Ray Moore Jr. and wife, Kim, Zion, Ill.; Eric Matthew Moore and wife, Lacy, Putney; and Jeremy Kevin Moore, Holmes Mill; four sisters: Shirley Allen and husband, Hampton, of The Laurels; Earnestine Alsdorf and husband, Bill, Sevierville; Loretta Stanton and husband, Jack, Lejunior; and Rhonda Ramey and husband, David, Jonesville; three brothers: Freddie Moore and wife, Beulah, Ohio; Danny Moore and wife, Viola, Teetersville; and Roger Moore, Sevierville; four grandchildren: Brandon and Bryan Moore and Chasity and Ashley Turner; a host of nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Bill Ireton, Evarts.

Visitation is today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Evarts Funeral Home and after 4 p.m. Tuesday at the King's Chapel Church at Lejunior.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the church with the Rev. James Sanders, the Rev. Jerry Kirby, the Rev. Robert Smith, the Rev. Butch Clem and the Rev. Janice Fulkerson officiating.

Burial will follow in Evarts Memorial Gardens with military rites to be performed by the Harlan Honor Guard.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Evarts Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
