Kathleen N. Hogg, 89, Lexington, formerly of Cumberland, died Aug. 9, 2005, at Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital.

A lifelong resident of Harlan County, she was an elementary school teacher for 35 years with the Harlan County Board of Education at Cumberland Elementary School. She was a member of First Christian Church at Cumberland and taught an adult Sunday School for 40 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gillis Bernard Nolan Sr. and Dora Bell Blair Nolan; her husband, Wendell Hogg; an infant daughter, Dora Katherine Hogg; and two sisters: Wilma Frazier and Mable Williams.

Survivors include two children: Carl Hogg, Wheeling, W.Va.; and Karen Gibbons, Lexington; three brothers: G.B. Nolan Jr., Norris, Tenn.; Conrad Nolan, Harrison, Ohio; and David Nolan, Harrison, Ohio; four sisters: Lorraine Nolan, Cumberland; Grace Byles, Buena Vista, Va.; Mildred Hall, Cumberland; and Patsy Roberts, Hickman; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. in the chapel of Day & Jones Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Cumberland with the Rev. Robert Warren officiating.

Burial will follow in the Nolan Cemetery at Chad.

Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Hall, Jimmy Dixon and Herb Creech.

Day & Jones Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
