He was preceded in death by his parents, John Maggard Sr. and Judy Holbrook Maggard; two children, Homer and Louise Maggard; and two brothers, John Maggard Jr. and Archie Lewis.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Joyce Turner Maggard, Harlan; 14 children: Archie Maggard and wife, Janie, Baxter; Sandra Callahan and husband, Lonnie, Lawnvale; Judy Middleton and husband, Mike, Loyall; Pauline Roberts and husband, Tony, Baxter; Oscar Maggard Jr. and wife, Michelle; Baxter; Tammy Stanford and husband, Robert, Bell County; Catherine Faulkner, Lawnvale; Jason Maggard and wife, Carrie, Baxter; Chris Maggard and wife, Tiffany, Baxter; Randy Maggard; Larry Maggard; Bryant Maggard; Sharon Maggard; and Debbie Maggard, all of Harlan; 23 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; one sister, Lucinda Couch, Lexington; and one brother, Henry Maggard and wife, Dorothy, Cumberland.
Visitation is today and Thursday from 5 p.m .to 8 p.m. at Loyall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Loyall Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce Bingham and the Rev. Darrell Turner officiating.
Burial will follow at Harlan County Memorial Gardens at Tremont with friends and family serving as pallbearers.
