William "Bill" Shoaf, 73, Corbin, died Jan. 13, 2004, at his home.

A retired police chief for the city of Corbin, he believed in the Baptist faith and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Shoaf was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife, Dixie Shoaf, Corbin; six children: Shirley Hartsock, Nolansburg; Emma Shoaf, Corbin; Brendy Eaton, Woodbine; Ralph Shoaf, Morehead; Michael Shoaf, Woodbine; and Bill Shoaf Jr., Norton, Va.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Corbin Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton officiating.

Burial will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery in Corbin.

Members of the Corbin Police Department will serve as pallbearers.
