A native of Letcher County, he was a member of the Gilliam Chapel Baptist Church, a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired miner and member of the United Mine Workers of America. He was a former employee of Glenbrook Coal Company in Evarts.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Emma Murdey Jackson; a brother, Frank Jackson; and a sister, Emily Jackson.
There were no immediate survivors.
Visitation is today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Day & Jones Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at noon at the funeral home with Brother Henry Hughes officiating.
Burial will follow at the D.L. Creech Cemetery in Cumberland.
