Harlan County won two of three games over the weekend in the Somerset Invitational, edging Tates Creek 5-4 on Friday before falling to Madison Central 9-1 and defeating Model 6-3 on Saturday.
Haley Blakley scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning (game was stopped after six innings due to tournament time rules) as she led off with a double and eventually came home on a wild pitch.
Kacie Russell had the big blow of the night with a two-run homer in the third inning.
Farren Clark added two doubles for the Lady Bears. Hannah Johnson had two singles. Tia King and Destinee Jenkins contributed singles.
Jenkins pitched a complete game to earn the win.
Harlan County was limited to three hits by Madison Central, one single each from Nikki Creech, Jenkins and Russell.
Jenkins suffered the loss on the mound.
Russell pitched a one-hitter with a four strikeouts and four walks to lead the Lady Bears over Model. Hannah Johnson and King each had a double and single Jenkins added a double. Russell and Creech had singles.
Harlan County (22-7) returns to action Monday at home against Leslie County.
