Morris will be a guest speaker at HCHS camp
Maci Morris, the 2015 Kentucky Miss Basketball from Bell County, will be the special guest speaker at the Harlan County Lady Bears Basketball Camp on May 23-25 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Morris, who will be available for autographs and photos, was an All-SEC freshman selection last year as a member of the University of Kentucky basketball team.
The camp is for girls entering first through the eighth grades. Registration will be held from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. in the lobby of HCHS.
The camp includes instruction from HCHS coach Debbie Green and the HCHS players.
Drills for shooting, ball handling, passing and rebounding are planned, along with instruction on offensive and defensive fundamentals. Daily competitions and team play are planned.
Registration will be held from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. in the lobby at HCHS. The cost is $40 per camper.
A camp T-shirt will also be distributed to each camp participant.
Harlan volleyball camp scheduled May 31-June 2
The Harlan Lady Dragons Volleyball Camp is set for May 31-June 2 from 10 a.m. to noon each day in the HHS gym
All girls in grades K-8 are eligible to attend. The cost is $35, and each camper will receive a T-shirt.
Campers will be taught the basic skills of volleyball, such as proper hitting techniques, digging, spiking, serving and rules.
Current and former players will assist Harlan coach Tara Posey with instruction.

Cyclone Sisters win in Harlan softball action
Riley Maggard pitched a four-hitter with three strikeouts and three walks as the Cyclone Sisters defeated the Glam Slammers 27-1 in Harlan Little League softball action.
Maggard led the winners at the plate with a triple. Karagan Baker added a double. Allie Kelly, Taylor Michave, Tiffany Brown and Addison Jackson added one single each.
Harlee Shaw led the Glam Slammers with a double. Miranda Brock, Alyssa Middleton and Brianna Howard aded one single each.
