The Harlan County High School tennis teams swept their final regular-season matches at home on Tuesday against Pineville.

Black Bear seniors Ethan Hughes, Logan Burris, Dylan Johnson and Nick Turner all recorded victories in their final home matches.

Number-one seed Hughes, in his first action in three weeks after an injury, defeated Josh Lawson 6-3, 6-2, while Burris won in a tiebreaker over Dillon Asher 8-8, 7-3. Johnson and Turner dominated their doubles match against Pineville twins Jacob and Luke Taylor, 6-1, 6-0.

In other boys action, Trevor Prewitt and Ryan Sergent of HC triumphed over Isaac Saylor and Kenton Thompson, 6-0, 6-2.

The Lady Bears’ No. 1 seed, Madison Bailey, beat Gabby Patterson in straight sets, and Hannah Gaw swept Pineville’s Jayden Sizemore by the same score.

Allison Cook and Dacey Bailey of HCHS won in straight sets over Isabella Jones and Olivia Webb. Emily Eldridge and Grayson Raleigh dropped their match to Pineville’s Sarah Combs and McKenzie Fuson 6-1, 6-2.

The match served as a final tune-up for both teams before the 13th Region Tournament, which begins Friday at Corbin High School.
