Harlan County junior guard Cameron Carmical pulled down a rebound against June Buchanan’s Idris Akinyemi in action from the 13th Region-14th Region All-Star Game on Sunday at Memorial Gym in Hazard. Carmical helped lead the Bears to a 52nd District title last season and a 24-5 record. The 14th Region all-stars pulled away in the second half for a 108-87 win in a matchup of the top underclassmen from both regions. Treyce Spurlock, also a junior guard, was the other HCHS representative at the all-star game but was unable to participate. The 14th Region girls edged the 13th Region girls 61-59. Harlan’s Jordan Brock and Emma Bianchi and Harlan County’s Blair Green and Kaylea Gross were selected to participate but were unable to attend.
