Blakley tosses 3-hitter as Rays defeat Braves

Brayden Blakley pitched a three-hitter with 12 strikeouts as the Rays won 6-2 over the Braves in Tri-City Little League action Thursday.

Jayden Sexton and Jonah Swanner each had a triple and single to lead the Rays on offense. Blakley added two singles. Nathan Shepherd and Jesse Franks Jr. contributed one single each.

Swanner came in to record the final out when Blakley reached his pitch limit.

Hunter Cornett struck out nine in four innings on the mound for the Braves. Braxton Sexton struck out two in one inning.

Chandler Smith led the Braves offense with a triple and single. Tye Howard and Kris Cornett added one single each.

Youth basketball clinic set for Monday at HCHS

The Harlan County High School boys basketball team will host a basketball clinic on Monday from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the school gym for boys and girls ages 3-12.

Harlan County basketball players and coaches will instruct participants in shooting, ball handling, passing and game situations. Participants will go through a series of basketball stations to improve their game.

You can register with a Harlan County basketball player or call the school at 574-2020. The cost is $15.

Participants will perform basketball skills at halftime of a Harlan County boys basketball game.
