Harlan held off a late comeback to edge Bell County 4-3 in district action Tuesday at Log Mountain as the Dragons improved to 13-7 overall and 3-1 in district action.

Senior righthander Caleb Hogue pitched a five-hitter for the Dragons and shut out Bell until a three-run sixth inning that cut the deficit to one run.

Harlan played without three starters as catcher Nick Jarvis, third baseman Pedro Roman and pitcher/outfielder Holden Williams missed the game due to illness.

Tyler Carmical played well at second base and led the Dragons on offense with a double and a single. Andrew Saylor took over at catcher and contributed a double. Hogue, Noah Busroe, Antonio Roman, Austin Wilson and Brendan Miller had one single each.

The Dragons return to action Tuesday against Middlesboro.
