Coming off their first two losses of the season as part of a four-game split over the weekend in London at the Five Star Prep Showcase, the Harlan County Lady Bears got back to business Monday at home with a 13-1 rout of visiting Hazard.

Harlan County topped the 10-run mark for the 10th time this season and improved to 13-2 with a 16-hit explosion against the outmanned Lady Bulldogs.

Nikki Creech, Destinee Jenkins, Tia King, Haley Blakley and Emily Long each had two hits for the Lady Bears. Farren Clark and Kacie Russell each added a double. Lainey Cox, Kate Evans, Regan Caudill and Erin Cornett contributed one single each. Russell drove in three runs. Jenkins, King and Cox each drove in two runs.

Russell, Jenkins and Alred teamed on a one-hitter with Russell pitching the first inning and Jenkins and Alred pitching two innings each.

Jordan Fugate had the only hit for the 2-15 Lady Dogs, who have lost 14 straight games.

Harlan County returns to action Thursday at Clay County in a showdown between two of the 13th Region’s top five teams.
