Patriots improve to 14-2 with three wins

New Harlan avenged one of its two losses by pounding Letcher 11-1 in recent middle school baseball action.

Jordan Steele had a big day at the plate to lead the Patriots with a double and three singles. James Gray added four singles. James Chasteen, Jay Harris and Layne Jones added two singles each. Ben Landis contributed a triple. Matt Brown and Josh Turner each had one single.

James Chasteen pitched four innings, giving up one hit and one run with six strikeouts and eight walks. Elisha Smallwood struck out all three batters he faced in one inning on the mound.

New Harlan shut out Fleming-Neon 7-0 as Gray pounded out two doubles and a single. Landis added two doubles. Nick Hunting, Harris and Jones added one single each.

Harris pitched a one-hitter with six strikeouts and three walks.

Turner had two doubles and a single as the Patriots defeated Pineville 8-3.

Chasteen struck out seven and walked seven in five innings on the mound. Steele struck out all three batters he faced in one inning on the mound.

With Steele pounding out two triples, the Patriots coasted past Bell County 7-1.

Jones and Gray added two singles each for New Harlan (14-2). Turner and Hunting contributed one single each.
