Harlan made the most of three hits on a cold Saturday, scoring three runs in the sixth inning to rally for a 7-6 win over visiting Jackson County.
Ashley Overbay and Jesse Cochran each had doubles for the 5-2 Lady Dragons, who have won three straight games. Peyton Bennett added a single.
Madison Brewer started on the mound for the Lady Dragons and gave up five runs on four hits in three innings, with two strikeouts and four walks. Overbay earned the win as she gave up one run on one hit in four innings, with five strikeouts and no walks.
Sidney Horton started Harlan’s four-run third inning by being hit by a pitch. She eventually scored on a passed ball. Overbay doubled to left center and scored on a double steal with Brewer after Brewer walked. Jesse Cochran followed with a walk, and pinch runner Kaytlin Cornett and Cochran came around to scored on Bennett’s hit.
Jayda Young walked to start the sixth inning and scored when Savanna Smith reached base on an error. Overbay walked, and both runners scored on Cochran’s double to put Harlan up 7-5.
Jackson County scored a run in the seventh inning but Overbay worked out of the jam to preserve the win.
Harlan returns to action Tuesday at home in a district game against Middlesboro.
