The Harlan County Lady Bears recorded a 7-3 win over Barbourville in recent tennis action at Union College.
In girls singles, Emily Eldridge defeated Shaddys Gamble 6-3, while Grayson Raleigh gutted out an 8-6 victory over Kelsey Warfield. Allison Cook beat Huda Al Darraji 6-3; Dacey Bailey won 6-0 over Charli Cecil; Brianna Roque took her match, 6-1, against Jenna Owens.
The Lady Bears took two of three doubles matches, with wins by Madison Bailey/Hannah Gaw, 6-3 vs. Gamble/Warfield, and by Makayla Whitaker/Brittany Goins, 6-3 vs. Cecil/Cailin McDonald.
The boys fell 6-1 to the Tigers. Jose Roque recorded the lone win for the Bears, 6-0 over Hunter Owens. No. 1 seed Ethan Hughes fought a hard battle against one of the 13th Region’s top players, Trey Carter, but fell 7-9.
Harlan County teams were scheduled to return to action on Thursday at home against Bell County.
