Patriots open season by winning 2 of 3

New Harlan opened the middle school baseball season by winning two of its first three games.

The Patriots rolled past Lynn Camp 14-4 as Jay Harris, Josh Turner and Jordan Steele led the offense with doubles. Layne Jones and Ben Landis each added singles.

Steele struck out five, walked three and gave up three runs in 2 2/3 innings on the mound. Jay Harris struck out five and allowed one run as he recorded the final five outs.

Brown had two hits and Roberts added one for Lynn Camp. Brown and Cook shared mound duty.

Matt Brown had two doubles to lead New Harlan to a 12-2 win over Pineville.

Steele and Jones each had triples. James Chasteen added a double. James Gray and Nick Hunting contributed singles.

Harris pitched a complete game with one strikeout and one walk to earn the win.

Brown had a double and two singles to carry the New Harlan offense in an 8-3 loss to Middlesboro.

Chasteen allowed two runs in 2 1/3 innings on the mound. Harris allowed four runs in 3 2/3 innings.

Gent led the Middlesboro offense with two doubles. Harris had two singles. Simpson, North, Patterson and Bayless added one single each.
