Brown, Turner lead Cats to a victory over Trojans

Led by 18 points from Matt Brown and 15 from Josh Turner, Rosspoint defeated visiting James A. Cawood 52-36 on Tuesday in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action.

Jordan Harris and Jay Harris scored 14 and 10 points, respectively, to lead James A. Cawood.

Thomas Jordan scored 21 points as Rosspoint defeated James A. Cawood 45-24 in fifth- and sixth-grade action.

Rosspoint plays at Green Hills on Thursday. JACES plays host to Black Mountain on Thursday.

Shepherd carries Redskins to win over Black Mountain

Cumberland overcame an early deficit as center Dakota Shepherd scored 10 of his 16 points in the second quarter as the 6-6 Redskins pulled away for a 44-22 win over visiting Black Mountain in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action Tuesday.

Jamey Hughes led Black Mountain with 11 points.

Black Mountain handed Cumberland its first loss in fifth- and sixth-grade action as Austin Tindell scored 10 points and Jayden Ward added eight as the Tigers won 26-20.

Justin Moyers scored five for the Redskins, who played without standout guard Jordan Akal.

Cumberland plays host to Cawood on Thursday. Black Mountain plays at James A. Cawood on Thursday.

Smith powers Comets to victory over Evarts

James Smith poured in 28 points as Cawood defeated visiting Evarts 54-48 in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action Tuesday.

James Gray added 13 for the Comets.

Christian Boggs scored 16 and Jordan Howard tossed in 11 for the Wildcats.

Cawood placed four in double figures as Braden Cox, Dylan Hicks, Ethan Rhymer and Adam Boggs each scored 10 points to help the Comets win 45-27 in fifth- and sixth-grade action.

Zach Potter led Evarts with 11 points.

Evarts plays host to Wallins on Thursday. Cawood travels to Cumberland on Thursday.

Jacob Engle scored 25 points and James Smith added 15 as Cawood rolled past visiting Green Hills 59-35 in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball Monday.

Andrew Hoskins led the Falcons with 12 points. Dylan Gross and Caleb Ashley added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Adam Boggs scored 11 points as Cawood won 47-13 in the fifth- and sixth-grade game.

Andrew Hensley led Green Hills with 12 points.

Elisha Smallwood scored 12 points and Alex Nantz added 10 as Wallins defeated visiting Green Hills 53-32 in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action Monday.

Dylan Gross led Green Hills with 19 points.

Wallins won 53-32 in the fifth- and sixth-grade game as Carl Pacholewski and Daniel Carmical each scored 10 points to pace the Devils.

Ethan Caldwell scored 10 for the Falcons.
