One night after escaping with a two-point win over Assumption to maintain their perfect record, the Lady Dragons weren’t as lucky Tuesday in the semifinals of the Schmid Funeral Home Holiday Classic as tournament host Bullitt East pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 68-53 win.
Harlan grabbed an early 16-9 lead after one quarter as Jordan Brock had 11 of her game-high 25 points, but the 7-1 Lady Dragons were held to eight points in the second quarter as Bullitt East rallied to take a 25-24 lead by halftime.
The Lady Chargers had only two baskets in the third quarter but took a 41-35 lead by hitting 11 of 14 free throws. Bullitt East hit 13 of 15 from the line in the fourth quarter to pull away for the 15-point win.
Brooklyn Massingill added 17 points for the 7-1 Lady Dragons.
Junior guard Alyssa Peak scored 22 points to lead the 5-2 Lady Chargers, who were ranked second in the 6th Region in the Cats Pause preseason poll. Junior forward Kirstie Henn added 11 points.
