Wilson, Eldridge power Harlan past Mountaineers

With Jacob Wilson scoring 26 points and Jonathan Eldridge adding 20, Harlan avenged a 30-point loss from two weeks ago by downing visiting Oneida Baptist 46-40 on Tuesday in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action.

Jackson Huff had 20 points and 11 rebounds as Harlan won 39-23 in a seventh-grade game.

Middlesboro defeated Harlan 50-35 in seventh- and eighth-grade action as Wilson scored 17 to lead the Dragons.

Huff scored 22 points and added 12 rebounds as Harlan won 42-18 in the fifth- and sixth-grade game.

Harlan returns to action Thursday at home against Williamsburg.

Wallins stays perfect with win over Falcons

Led by 11 points from Elisha Smallwood and 10 each from Taylor Spurlock and Devin Eldridge, Wallins rolled to a 42-25 win Tuesday at Green Hills in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action, improving to 6-0 on the season.

Andrew Hoskins scored 12 to lead the Falcons.

Carl Pacholewski scored eight points and Josh Sergent added seven as Wallins won 38-22 in the fifth- and sixth-grade game.

Ethan Caldwell led Green Hills with 16 points.

Shepherd sparks Redskins in victory over Tigers

With his team trailing 19-16 at halftime on Tuesday at Black Mountain, Cumberland center Dakota Shepherd exploded for 13 points in the third quarter as the Redskins rallied for 43-29 in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action.

Shepherd scored 21 points to lead the Redskins.

Isaac Taulbee led Black Mountain with 19 points.

Jordan Akal scored 23 and Jaeden Gist added 14 as Cumberland (7-0) won 46-24 in the fifth- and sixth-grade game.

Jayden Ward scored nine for Black Mountain.

Cumberland returns to action Tuesday at Rosspoint. Black Mountain plays host to James A. Cawood on Tuesday.

James Smith scored 20 and James Gray added 13 to pace the 3-2 Comets.

Jayden Burkhart scored 17 and Zack Potter added 12 as Evarts won 36-24 in the fifth- and sixth-grade game.

Dylan Hicks led Cawood with 12 points.

Evarts plays host to Rosspoint on Monday.

Black Bear Madness set Friday

The Harlan County boys and girls basketball teams will be introduced Friday during Black Bear Madness.

The program will begin at 7 p.m. Players will be introduced and each team will go through drills and a short scrimmage.

The HCHS dance and cheer teams will also perform.

Admission is free.
