Balanced attack propels Wallins to win over Cats

With three Purple Devils reaching double figures, Wallins defeated visiting Evarts 50-37 on Tuesday in seventh- and eight-grade basketball action.

Elisha Smallwood scored 16, while Taylor Spurlock and Tyler Cole added 10 each for the Devils.

Christian Boggs scored 17 to lead the Wildcats.

Carl Pacholewski poured in 19 points as Wallins won 49-21 in the fifth- and sixth-grade game.

Wallins plays at Green Hills on Tuesday.

Swanner scores 17 as Redskins are winners

Josh Swanner poured in 17 points as Cumberland celebrated homecoming Monday with a 41-26 win over Green Hills in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action.

Andrew Hoskins led the Falcons with 11 points.

Jordan Akal scored nine as Cumberland (6-0) won 31-20 in the fifth- and sixth-grade game.

Hunter Crain scored 12 to pace Green Hills.

Cumberland travels to Black Mountain on Tuesday. Green Hills plays host to Wallins on Tuesday.

Black Bear Madness set Friday

The Harlan County boys and girls basketball teams will be introduced Friday during Black Bear Madness.

The program will begin at 7 p.m. Players will be introduced and each team will go through drills and a short scrimmage.

Dance and cheer teams will also perform.

Admission is free.^^^
