Harlan, Lynn Camp

split doubleheader

Harlan split a doubleheader against Lynn Camp earlier this week, winning 41-24 in the fifth- and sixth-grade game before falling 56-21 in the seventh- and eighth-grade game.

The seventh- and eighth-grade Dragons, who posted a 33-14 conference record over the past four years with two league titles, is rebuilding this season and turned the ball over 28 times against Lynn Camp.

Jonathan Eldridge scored seven to lead the 0-2 Dragons.

Harlan improved to 2-0 in fifth- and sixth-grade action as Jackson Huff had another big game with 17 points and 19 rebounds. The Dragons raced to a 17-0 lead after one quarter and led 27-6 at halftime.

will play at HCHS

The county middle school basketball teams will open their season with the Grade School Black Bear Tournament at Harlan County High School on the next two Saturdays.

The schedule for the 5-6 tournament on Saturday includes:

Black Mountain vs Cawood – 10 a.m.

Cumberland vs Wallins – 11 a.m.

Rosspoint vs Green Hills – Noon

Evarts vs James A. Cawood – 1 p.m.

Semifinals – 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
