Lady Dragons take second in tourney

Harlan closed its season by finishing second in the middle school All “A” Classic over the weekend in Williamsburg.

The Lady Dragons defeated Lynn Camp 29-23 in the semifinals before falling 34-10 to Williamsburg in the finals.

Natalee King poured in 18 to lead Harlan against Lynn Camp. King scored four in the Lady Dragons’ loss to Williamsburg.

The Lady Dragons finished the season with a 7-9 record.

Harlan won one and lost two in the fifth- and sixth-grade tournament, placing fourth.

The Lady Dragons claimed their first win of the season by downing Red Bird 13-10. Harley Middleton led the Lady Dragons with five points.

Harlan (1-13) lost to Middlesboro 34-2 in the semifinals and fell 14-4 to Lynn Camp in the third-place game.

Preston leads Evarts with 18-point effort

Carissa Preston poured in 18 points as Evarts edged visiting James A. Cawood 34-30 on Monday in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action.

Haley Middleton led JACES with 12 points.

Evarts closes its regular season schedule Thursday at home against Wallins.

Jaylin Smith scored 14 points and Aliyah Cloud added 12 as Evarts stayed perfect in fifth- and sixth-grade action with a 42-10 win.

Star Hardy led the Trojanettes with 14 points.

Evarts plays host to Wallins on Thursday.

Cole powers Cawood to victory at JACES

Madison Cole scored 14 points and Amber Irvin added nine as Cawood coasted past James A. Cawood 44-24 on Friday at JACES.

Elina Turner and Kaylee Leslie each scored six for the Trojanettes.

James A. Cawood avenged an earlier loss in fifth- and sixth-grade action with a 21-10 win.

Star Hardy led the Trojanettes with six points.
