Dragons, Cats suffer losses

Middlesboro raced to a 30-0 lead on the way to a 54-20 victory Thursday in seventh- and eighth-grade football action.

Jacob Wilson put Harlan on the board with a 7-yard run with three minutes left in the second quarter. The Jackets added another late TD to go up 38-6 at halftime.

Jon Eldridge caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from Wilson with 4:50 to play in the third period. Middlesboro answered with two more touchdowns and led 54-12.

Wilson teamed with Ozzy Howard for a 29-yard touchdown pass late in the game. Eldridge caught a pass for the two-point conversion.

Wilson led the Dragons with 127 yards passing as he completed eight of 15 attempts. Eldridge had four catches for 94 yards and Howard added one for 29 yards.

Jeremiah Mills led the Harlan defense with four tackles.

The Dragons lost to Jenkins in fifth- and sixth-grade action.

Harlan (1-5) plays host to Stinnett on Oct. 1

Evarts closed its season with its first loss, 30-18 to visiting Williamsburg.

Christian Boggs and Jacob Howard each had one touchdown run. Nick Helton returned a kickoff for a touchdown.

Evarts (6-1) will play Mountain View on Tuesday in the first round of the Mountain Middle Athletic Conference playoffs at Leslie County High School.
