An eight-inning loss against Clay County in the first round of last year’s 13th Region Tournament followed by a one-run loss at home to open this season meant the Harlan County Lady Bears had plenty of reasons to want to win Tuesday in a rematch at Clay County.

The Lady Bears were able to gain a little revenge as Destinee Jenkins pitched a four-hitter with three strikeouts and one walk in a 2-1 win over Clay.

Lainey Cox, Kacie Russell, Emily Long, Haley Blakley, Hannah Johnson, Regan Caudill, T.C. Somersall and Emily Collett had one single each for the Lady Bears.

Harlan County broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning. Russell and Long opened the inning with hits before Somersall and Collett each came up with RBI hits.

Harlan County (13-12) will close its regular season schedule Friday at home against South Laurel.
