Redskins end losing streak by downing Neon


Cumberland earned its first middle school baseball win in over a year, evening its record this season at 1-1 with a 12-6 victory Friday at Fleming-Neon.

Zac Collett led the Redskins with four singles. Brayden Blakley had two singles and a double. Josh Whitehead added a single and a triple. Kris Cornett had two singles. Kenny Skidmore contributed a double. Nathan Shepherd and Josh Swanner added one single each.

Whitehead started on the mound, giving up three walks while striking out two in one inning. Brayden Blakley struck out six, walked two and allowed one hit in two innings.

Cumberland opened the season with a 10-9 loss to Letcher.
