Ethan Clem ran for 200 yards and scored four touchdowns on only five carries as the Harlan Green Dragons broke through for their first win of the season after several recent close calls, rolling past visiting Stinnett 46-12 on Monday in seventh- and eighth-grade football action.
“It’s an awesome feeling seeing the smiles on all of the guys’ faces after their first victory. They have played really hard all season and come up short a few times,” Harlan coach Chris Thompson said. :It was especially good for the eighth graders to get a win on with Eighth Grade Night. I saw some promise from the younger guys who got quite a bit of playing time. Hopefully, since they have a taste of winning we can win out for the rest of the season.”
Connor Scearse added 54 yards on the ground while completing two of four passes. Cade Middleton completed his only pass for 75 yards. Jesse Cornett had two catches for 86 yards and two touchdowns.
Braydon Shanks led the Harlan defense with five tackles and a fumble recovery. Ethan Shepherd also had five tackles. Ethan Clem, Jordan Helton and Britt Lawson contributed four tackles each.
Harlan (1-6) travels to Pineville on Thursday.
