North powers Trojanettes to victory over Lady Skins

Led by an 18-point performance from Keely North, James A. Cawood (3-2) defeated visiting Cumberland 24-10 in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action Monday.

Tonjaneh Lee led Cumberland (1-5) with four points.

Ella Karst poured in 14 points as JACES coasted to a 30-10 win in the fifth- and sixth-grade game to improve to 4-1 on the season.

Josalyn Lee scored six for the 2-4 Lady Skins.

Courtney Simpson scored in the closing seconds to lift Cawood to a 30-28 win over visiting James A. Cawood in previously unreported action Thursday.

The Trojanettes won 42-20 in the fifth- and sixth-grade game as Taylor Lunsford and Taylor Gregory each scored eight points.

Scarlett Rowe and Kylie Noe led Cawood with nine points each.

James A. Cawood returns to action Thursday at Wallins. Cumberland plays at Evarts on Monday.

Mulkey leads Tigerettes in win over Lady Devils

Kassady Mulkey scored 14 points to lead Black Mountain (3-3) to a 28-11 win Monday at Wallins seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action.

Kali Blevins led the Lady Devils with four points.

Unbeaten Black Mountain avoided an upset in the fifth- and sixth-grade game with a 20-15 overtime win.

Kaitlyn Turner led the 6-0 Tigerettes with six points.

Tatum Griffin scored 12 to pace Walllins (0-4).

Wallins will be at home against James A. Cawood on Thursday. Black Mountain returns to action Saturday at Bell County.
