Smith scores 29 as Evarts defeats Harlan

Jaylin Smith poured in 29 points as Evarts extended its season-opening win streak to seven with a 51-39 win over visiting Harlan on Saturday in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action.

Kelly Beth Hoskins led Harlan with 16 points. Colby Napier added 13.

Harlan won 23-20 in fifth- and sixth-grade action as Alyssa Gibson led the Lady Dragons with five points.

Harlan won 17-5 in a fourth-grade game as Ashley Preston scored seven for the Lady Cats.

Evarts is at home Tuesday against Green Hills. Harlan travels to Barbourville on Tuesday.

Lady Jackets sweep Harlan in doubleheader

Harlan lost a pair of games to Middlesboro and defeated Stinnett in recent seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action.

Jadria Brown scored 17 points and Lakin Burke added 14 as the Lady Jackets downed Harlan 48-26 on Friday at Middlesboro.

Alli Thompson scored 11 points and Angel Wynn added 10 for the Lady Dragons.

Middlesboro won 35-10 in fifth- and sixth-grade action. Raegan Jones scored six to lead the Lady Dragons.

Harlan fell 36-24 on Sept. 3 at Harlan as Kailey Owens scored 11 for the Lady Jackets.

Middlesboro won 35-10 in the fifth- and sixth-grade game.

Hoskins scored 13 and Angel Wynn added 10 as Harlan defeated visiting Stinnett 20-13 on Thursday.

Maci Napier poured in 29 points for Stinnett.

Harlan won 20-13 in the fifth- and sixth-grade game as Raegan Jones scored 13 for the Lady Dragons.

Emma Napier led Stinnett with six points.

Harlan won 12-3 in a fourth-grade game. Addison Jackson and Lindsey Skidmore led the Lady Dragons with four points each. Cameron Blanton and Reagan Goodman added two points each.

Kelly, Mulkey power Tigerettes to a victory

Nebraska Kelly scored 12 points and Kassady Mulkey added 11 as Black Mountain (2-3) rolled to a 44-5 win Thursday at Green Hills in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action.

The Black Mountain fifth- and sixth-grade team improved to 5-0 with a 29-2 win. Hannah Turner led the Tigerettes with seven points.

Black Mountain returns to action Monday at Wallins. Green Hills plays at Evarts on Tuesday.
