Harlan rolled to its third straight 13th Region All “A” Classic championship by coasting past three opponents Saturday at Lynn Camp, earning a spot in the state tournament next month.

The Lady Dragons will try to break through at the next level when they advance to All “A” Classic state competition on Sept. 17.

“We haven’t won a game at the state level, and I hope that changes this season,” Harlan coach Tara Posey said. “All the varsity players are veterans and should know what to expect. I hope nerves won’t play a factor this year. I have seen a steady improvement each game we have played so far.”

The Lady Dragons downed Red Bird 25-16, 25-8 in the championship game.

AnnMarie Bianchi led Harlan with nine aces, one dig and one kill. Emma Bianchi had six kills, four digs, two aces and one set assist. Callie Wilson added five kills, four digs and two set assists. Taylor Smith had three aces, seven digs and two set assists. Jasmine Honeycutt had three kills and one dig.

“Despite Jesse Cochran having an injured foot she still played great. AnnMarie Bianchi is coming in off the bench and gave us some big serves. Sydney Horton was all over the floor setting the ball for our hitters,” Posey said. “Taylor Smith did a great job in the back with some saves and digs.
