Redskins shut out Lynn Camp

Cumberland posted back-to-back 32-0 wins on Tuesday against visiting Lynn Camp, winning in both the fifth- and sixth-grade and seventh- and eighth-grade games to improve to 2-0 at both levels.

Tyler Flanary raced 50 yards for a touchdown with 7:08 left in the first quarter to get the seventh- and eighth-grade Skins off to a great start. Josh Swanner added the two-point conversion.

Swanner scored on a 50-yard run of his own with 3:52 left in the first period. Flanary added the two-point conversion for a 16-0 lead.

Zac Collett teamed with Flanary for a 50-yard TD pass with 50 seconds left in the period. Swanner’s two-point conversion made the score 24-0.

Flanary had an interception late in the first half.

Joshua Whitehead went 20 yards for the final Cumberland touchdown with 4:39 left in the third quarter. Donovan Simmons went in for the two-point conversion.

Darius Akal started the Cumberland offense in the fifth- and sixth-grade game with a touchdown at the 4:33 mark of the first quarter. Jonah Swanner had the two-point conversion.

Austin Roark recovered a fumble late in the first quarter to set up another Cumberland drive. Swanner scored from 2 yards away, then Akal went in for the conversion.

Swanner ran 12 yards for a touchdown with 2:54 left in the second quarter. Kris Cornett went in for the two-point conversion.

Braxton Jarvis put the Cumberland offense back in business with a fumble recovery. Swanner teamed with Cornett for a touchdown pass. Dionta Long went in for the two-point conversion.

The Cumberland fifth- and sixth-grade team is scheduled to play at New Harlan on Thursday. Both Cumberland teams will play Stinnett on Aug. 25 at Leslie County High School.
