Morton scores 10 in Harlan victory

Ella Morton led the offense with 10 points and Alli Thompson led a strong defensive effort as Harlan evened its record at 1-1 in seventh- and eighth-grade basketball action with a 22-5 win Thursday at Pineville.

Riley Smith paced the Lady Lions with four points.

Pineville edged Harlan (0-1) 18-17 in fifth- and sixth-grade action.

Emma Owens and Peighton Jones led Harlan with six points each.

LIndsey Collett scored six points as Harlan won 6-3 in fourth-grade action.

Harlan opened its season with a 39-9 loss Monday at Knox Central in seventh- and eighth-grade action.

Morton led the Lady Dragons with three points.

Kelly Beth Hoskins scored 19 as Harlan won 29-26 in a seventh-grade game. Morton and Thompson scored four each. Harley Middleton added two.

Harlan plays Bell Central at home on Friday and Red Bird at home on Saturday.

MMAC Gridorama is set for Saturday

The Mountain Middle School Athletic Conference Gridorama is set for Saturday at Harlan.

Cumberland will play Stinnett at 5:30 p.m. in fifth- and sixth-grade action and at 6:30 in a seventh- and eighth-grade scrimmage. Evarts will play Harlan at 7:30 in fifth- and sixth-grade action and at 8:30 in the seventh- and eighth-grade scrimmage.
