Hazard/Perry exploded for 15 runs in the first inning and coasted to the Area 4 (ages 9-10) Tournament championship on Thursday with a 24-2 win over Tri-City.
Luke Bailey led the Hazard offense from the leadoff spot with four singles in four at bats. Max Pelfrey had a triple, double and single from the cleanup position in the order. Samuel Shoptow contributed a double and two singles. Brady Tinchner singled twice and added a sacrifice fly. Parker Williams also singled twice. Luke Cobb, Austin Hughes and Conner Combs added one single each.
Alex Creech again led the Tri-City offense, following up a four-hit night in a 20-14 win over Harlan Yellow on Wednesday, with two singles against Hazard. Creech led off the third inning with a single and scored the first Tri-City run on a double steal. Shawn Carroll walked and Jesse Franks and Liam Garland were each hit by pitches later in the inning to produce another run.
Caleb Banks started on the mound for Tri-City. Aiden Craig came on to pitch in the first inning and finished the game.
Shoptow, Tinchner, Pelfrey and Combs pitched one inning each for Hazard/Perry.

Harlan Yellow defeated Harlan Green 20-6 in the second game Thursday to stay alive in the tournament.
Jake Brewer, Aiden Johnson and Nate Montanaro each had hits for Harlan Yellow. Montanaro and Dylan Cox shared mound duty.
Gunner Burkhart and Landon Myers led Harlan Green with one single each.
