Hazard and Tri-City rolled into the finals of the Area 4 (ages 9-10) Tournament with first-round wins Wednesday as Hazard routed Harlan Green 37-0 and Tri-City rallied for a 20-14 win over Harlan Yellow.

Eli Freyer had the only hit for Harlan Green in the opening game with a fourth-inning double.

Sharing mound duty for Harlan Green were Cory Bryant, Gunner Burkhart, Freyer, James Howard and Landon Myers.

Tri-City fell behind 11-1 midway through the second inning in the second game before scoring seven runs in the bottom of the second to get within three. The game was tied before Tri-City took control with a seven-run fifth inning.

Alex Creech led Tri-City at the plate with four singles. Liam Garland had triple and single. Josh Duckworth and Tyler Lunsford contributed two singles each. Aiden Craig, Shawn Carroll, Jesse Franks and Caleb Banks added one single each.

Aiden Johnson had the only hit for Harlan Yellow with a single.

Tri-City will play Hazard on Thursday at 6 p.m. for the Area 4 championship. Harlan Green will play Harlan Yellow at 8 p.m. The winner of the second game will play the loser of the first game for second place on Friday at 7 p.m.
