Another bad start proved costly for the Tri-City All-Stars in the District 4 Tournament (ages 9-10) on Sunday at Huff Park in Harlan.
Tri-City watched Hazard/Perry County build a 14-2 lead with seven runs in each of the first two innings on the way to a 20-9 win. The loss eliminated Tri-City from the double-elimination tournament.
Cheyann Steele had another big game at the plate for Tri-City with two doubles. Bebe Estep, Josalyn Lee, R.J. Adams and Hannah Raleigh added one single each for Tri-City.
Kylie Moyers started on the mound for Tri-City. Estep pitched the final 3 2/3 innings.
In other action Sunday, North Laurel moved into the winners bracket championship game by defeating McCreary County 19-9. North Laurel will play Pulaski County on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Pulaski County advanced with a 25-4 win over Harlan on Saturday.
In losers bracket games Monday, Harlan will play Hazard/Perry at 6 p.m. and South London will take on McCreary County at 8 p.m. The two winners will play Tuesday at 8 p.m.
